Jamming out at the library on a Saturday night
Metric just came up on my Florence + the Machine station…that’s how you know it’s good. And I’m just sitting in the carrels jamming and having a grand old time writing about cognitive metaphors and contagion and boundaries and globalization (and god help me, this thesis is sort of spiraling out of control BUT WHO CARES).

deplaisant: Today I took a moment for myself between shifts. Sitting outside a coffee shop I was completely alone. And I realized I’m alone in most areas of my life. I have no friends in real life, and no one I can call to just see and have a human connection with. It didn’t hurt. It was a… I was fascinated both to read this and to read tinyvolcanicmoon’s response, because I...

Just watched "A Better Human Being"
I spent the entire time being enraptured by the way Anna Torv and Joshua Jackson communicate so well with their eyes.

The beginnings of the American Revolution,...
BRITISH EMPIRE: All right, fine, your stupid embargo worked. We won’t levy any more taxes-
AMERICAN COLONIES: Huzzah! Time to get drunk!
BRITISH EMPIRE: Except on tea.
AMERICAN COLONIES: What?
BRITISH EMPIRE: Get over it, it’s just tea. Seriously, where do you get this idea that you’re special and should never have to pay taxes? We hope that idea doesn’t go on to infect your political discourse centuries from now.
AMERICAN COLONIES: We’re not buying your stupid tea.
BRITISH EMPIRE: Are you being serious right now? What are you going to do, just stop drinking tea?
AMERICAN COLONIES: Yes. We’ll drink coffee.
BRITISH EMPIRE: Do you even know what that is?
AMERICAN COLONIES: No, but we’ve heard it’s good and we’re feeling surly.
BRITISH EMPIRE: Fine, whatever, we don’t even care what you do anymore.
BRITISH EAST INDIA COMPANY: Actually, we are pretty much bankrupt, so you need to make them drink the tea.
BRITISH EMPIRE: Oh, for—just drink the tea.
AMERICAN COLONIES: No.
BRITISH EMPIRE: Do it.
AMERICAN COLONIES: NO.
BRITISH EMPIRE: Drink it.
AMERICAN COLONIES: Fuck you.
BRITISH EMPIRE: Drink it or we’ll punch you in the face.
AMERICAN COLONIES: *Boston Tea Party*
BRITISH EMPIRE: What the hell?
AMERICAN COLONIES: We heard it was Indians.
BRITISH EMPIRE: That’s interesting, because we heard it was a bunch of colonists wearing paint and dressed in costumes that were remarkably similar to what a crowd of drunks who wanted to look like Indians would assemble if the only supplies they had were found in an alley behind a bar.
AMERICAN COLONIES: You get all types in Boston.
BRITISH EMPIRE: …*Coercive Acts*
AMERICAN COLONIES: Oh, it is ON.
and this is why we don't get doctor who on our televisions kids

Little Miss Tough Girl
Final 10 mile run: moved it up a day because the forecast for tomorrow is frankly terrible (snow in the mountains, rain here, and gusts of wind up to 60 mph. Who needs it?) It was exactly 30 degrees warmer than my first ten mile run (if you’ll recall, it was 27 degrees, and I was underdressed, explaining my ridiculously fast time). It was 57 today, which was actually very nice, but there was...

I'm opening my rude and judgmental mouth to say...
I don’t understand people who immediately started shipping stranger/August Booth and Emma. August basically has no character, and the only time he’s managed not to sound forced and contrived was when he was talking about the magical properties of water (which was like, ‘scuze me while I go puke from how trite this is). I feel like a lot of people think he’s so...

3rd 10 mi run
The usual: up to the airport. Clearly a spring run in Walla Walla - warm, cloudy, and breezy (wind around 15 knt, gusts around 20-25 knt). Met another runner who couldn’t find his wife (?) and actually saw people because I got a late start. 1:25 (which explains why I feel like lead. also running into the wind is exhausting)

Still more thoughts on Fringe
What about Faux!livia’s baby? If there was no Peter, there’s no baby, right, but is she going to start remembering the baby? I’m assuming so, because normal Olivia is starting to remember things… How weird would that be? To remember a baby you’ve never had, but had before the timeline got confused?

the-eirian-race: As we enter into an age where three different Sherlock Holmes adaptations are going to be happening at once, I have to wonder about the seemingly growing trend of “bromance” films. Though the films themselves aren’t anything knew, the labelling of them is. I can’t help… Ellie is on point tonight as at all times.

More on Fringe
Also, if Peter is in the correct timeline, as we’re all (okay, well I assume everyone is back on that bandwagon) thinking, what will the machine do? Will they abandon it, or will he keep working on it?  seriously, who even knows?

I’M NOT OKAY WITH CHRIS BROWN PERFORMING AT THE... →
I’m sick and tired of people acting like it’s no big deal that Chris Brown will be performing at the Grammys. I’m frustrated that the mainstream media is covering this story like it’s any comeback story, like an exiled prince’s return to a former glory, like this is another political timeline — as though some rich and powerful old white men in the music business have not just issued an enormous...

10 mi run
The usual: airport. Drizzling the whole time, but not very cold. 1:35 (yes, a whole fifteen minutes slower than last week - I’m tired. And despondent. And achy [because we did attitude in ballet this week, and it’s cold and drizzly and I’m eighty, so my joints hurt]). Good run. Quiet.
